Introducing P&G Wells Accounts
Traditionally, pupils who have purchased items from P&G Wells Ltd., Winchester College’s appointed booksellers and stationers, have been charged via the College’s ‘Blue Bill’ account system which is settled by parents at the end of each term. This system is paper-based and therefore both slow for pupils acquiring items from the shop and costly to manage.
Following investment in new sales technology, P&G Wells are pleased to introduce pupil accounts with the benefits of both speedier transactions in the shop and reduced administrative overheads for P&G Wells as well as the College. Alternatively, payments can be made directly using a credit or debit card or cash.
From September 2021, parents/guardians may purchase credit on a P&G Wells Account for pupils to buy books and stationery either in the College Street shop or online, for collection from the shop. Credit is available in increments of £10. Account credit may be purchased online, by phone on +44 (0)1962 852016 (weekdays 09.00 to 17.30 BST, or in person in the shop at 11 College Street, Winchester SO23 9LZ.
Any pupil without an active account and unable to pay for P&G Wells purchases with a credit or debit card or with cash will be offered a new account with sufficient credit to cover their purchases (minimum £20, in £10 increments).
Account debts not paid by the end of each term will be charged to Blue Bills, as a single item with no product details. While free of charge for Common Time 2021, from Short Half 2022 accounts in debt at the end of each term will incur an additional administration charge of £5 to be added to the Blue Bill.
Note that with itemised receipts offered at the time of purchase, details will no longer be provided on Blue Bill statements. Credit balances can be requested at any time using the online request form, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or in person in the shop.
Leavers may on request have account balances over £5 transferred to a National Book Token, valid at most good bookshops, or refunded through their final Blue Bill statement. Remaining balances over £5 will otherwise be gifted to each pupil’s house library.
P&G Wells would like to thank pupils and parents/guardians for their ongoing support as we introduce current business technology while retaining our shop’s traditional character.
